WP Kreskin's Majik at a Petting Zoo in Austrilia. |
Coriander at the Quarentine Center in South Wales. |
We are happy to announce that Ms. Annette Field of Orange, New
South Wales Australia has purchased two of our horses here at Mountain Creek
Curlies! A yearling stallion named
WP Kreskin’s Majik (ICHO Pending) and a two year-old mare name Coriander. Coriander (ICHO Pending) is in foal and
due next July, she was originally intended as one of our breeding stock, but
Annette liked the looks of her and convinced us to sell her.
Both
horses were shipped on November 7th down to the quarantine center in
Southern California and then started their long flight to Australia on Sunday
December 18th and arrived in great shape. Everyone who came in
contact with both horses remarked on their easy going personalities and willing
attitudes to do whatever was asked of them. Both had full winters and
arrived in time for the start of summer!
Whew! – They’ll have adjusting to do. Annette couldn’t believe how curly
they were from the tops of ears down to their hoofs!
Annette is keeping
Coriander in quarantine at a relative’s place until she has her foal and the
quarantine restrictions on Coriander and her foal have been lifted about a month
after the foal arrives. Annette
plans to breed Majik, her stallion to with quarter horses and appaloosas to We
wish Annette all the best in her future endeavors with her curly breeding
operation!

Our Philosophy | |
|
We are avid horse riders and we have found as we get older that a dependable horse that doesn't spook at every little thing is much easier on the body. The Curly has many qualities that fit our riding style, their gentle disposition, plus an easy going attitude and willing to please personality. Most have a gait that is just as easy on the body as a Tennesse Walker!
We have daily interaction with all of our horses, we train them to be very dependable not only in the arena, but out on the trail too. We don't stop at imprinting at birth, but work with the foals in slowly increasing steps through repetition. When the horse doesn't respond as they should we patiently go over the exercise again and look for positive gains; but not to the point of stressing the horse. Our goal is to train a horse that is a good friend and safe mount for their new owners. |

Another benefit is the hypo-allergenic coat, this has allowed riders who had given up on horse riding due to their allergic reaction to start riding again. These people have little or no reaction and can ride for hours and never feel any of the ill effects of the curlies hair and dander. The curly's hair is shaped differently than other horses; it is an oval shape and is used to make products than can be worn for warmth. | |
